A Study on the Model of life-sustaining treatment Decision Making through Shared Decision Making at the end of life


Abstract
On February 4, 2018, the Act on the life-sustaining treatment Decision Making for Patients in Hospice palliative care and dying process was implemented. In the medical field, decisions are made by family members both before and after the life-sustaining treatment Decision Making law, and there is a desperate need for a decision-making process in respect of patients' self-determination. Death is a unique event, a family event and a community event that needs to be prepared together with a process of meditation by doctors, patients, and families. This study is a study that suggests life-sustaining treatment Decision Making model through shared decision making considering the characteristics of Korean society. End of life medical care decisions should be made with full understanding of the patient's intentions and values a?nd sufficient dialogue with the family, with the doctor's full explanation. In order to support this process, it is necessary to accelerate the period of the life-sustaining treatment medical plan and decide on the consciousness. and death education and on-the-job training for the family should be activated through nurturing medical education specialists.
